Questions families ask

Short answers about the cost, the free trial, kid logins and how approvals work. Anything not covered here, send it over.

What is ChoreSpark?

ChoreSpark is a chore app for families. A parent sets chores as quests, and Quest Pack days put a mess monster behind them. Kids work through the quests, earn XP, level up, and unlock rewards the parent has chosen. The parent approves the work before anything pays out.

What ages is it built for?

It is aimed at primary and early secondary school ages, roughly five to twelve. Younger children usually need a parent nearby for the first week. Older kids tend to run their own board once they know the loop.

How much does ChoreSpark cost?

$59.99 a year, which works out at about $5 a month and saves about 37 percent, or $7.99 a month if you would rather pay monthly. There is one plan and every feature is in it, so nothing is held back for a higher tier.

How does the free trial work?

The trial runs for 14 days. You choose monthly or yearly and enter a payment method through Stripe when you start, and the price after the trial is shown before you begin. Nothing is charged during the trial. When it ends the plan you picked starts automatically, unless you cancel before then, and cancelling during the trial means you are never billed. There is one free trial per account, so an account that has had a subscription before is not offered a second trial.

How many children does one subscription cover?

All of them. One subscription covers the household, so every child in your family gets their own profile at no extra cost. There is no per child charge and no limit on how many you add.

Do my kids need their own email addresses?

No. Kids sign in on their own profile with a code you give them, so there is no email address, no inbox, and no separate account for you to manage. The parent account is the only one tied to an email address.

Do I have to set the same chores up every day?

No. Set a quest to repeat every day, or only on the days you choose, and ChoreSpark puts it back on the board on each of those days. It uses your household time zone, which you set in settings, so the day rolls over at midnight where you are. You can pause a repeating quest while a child is away and start it again later, and the days it was paused are not piled up afterwards. Changing the days or the points applies from the next day it repeats, so quests already finished keep what they were worth.

How does photo proof work?

When you mark a quest as needing proof, the kid finishes the job and takes a photo of it in the app. The quest then waits in your approvals list. Points and rewards are only paid out once you approve it, so the reward always matches work you have actually seen.

What are quest packs?

A quest pack is a themed run of days, from a weekend up to a full week. Installing one changes the monsters, the art and the story running behind the board, so the routine does not go stale. You can swap packs whenever the household needs a fresh start.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Cancel from the subscription page in your dashboard. During the trial that means you are never charged. After that the plan runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. There is no phone call and no retention queue.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes. ChoreSpark runs in the browser on phones, tablets, laptops and desktops, and it can be added to a home screen so it opens like an app. Kids usually use a phone or tablet, parents usually approve from whatever is to hand.

What happens to our family data?

Family data is used to run the account and nothing else. It is not sold, and it is not used to build advertising profiles. Account deletion is available from the dashboard and removes the family record. The privacy policy sets out what is stored and for how long.

Read the privacy policy.

Still deciding?

The trial runs for 14 days, which is long enough to see whether the board sticks.
